Region K Voting Member Vacancies
Notice is hereby provided that the Lower Colorado Regional Water Planning Group (Region K) is requesting nominations for four Region K member positions to represent Agriculture, Counties, Industries, and Municipalities interest groups for a term to expire Dec. 31, 2030.
Counties are defined as the county governments for the 254 counties in Texas.
Municipalities are defined as governments of cities created or organized under the general, home-rule, or special laws of the state.
Industries are defined as corporations, partnerships, sole proprietorships, or other legal entities that are formed for the purpose of making a profit and which produce or manufacture goods or services and which are not small businesses.
Agricultural interests are defined as those persons or entities associated with production or processing of plant or animal products.
Region K consists of a 14-county planning area, which extends generally along the Colorado River basin from Mills and San Saba counties in the northwest to Matagorda County in the southeast.
To be eligible for voting membership on Region K, a person must represent the interest group for which a member is sought, be willing to participate in the regional water planning process, attend meetings, and abide by the bylaws of the planning group.
Nominations must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Nov. 15, 2025.

Attend Region K Meetings
The Region K planning group typically meets quarterly. Meeting agendas are posted online and with the Secretary of State’s office at least seven days prior to the meeting in compliance with the Texas Open Meetings Act. The meetings are open to the public. Learn more about the next meeting.

About Region K
The Lower Colorado River Water Planning Group (Region K) is one of 16 regional water planning groups. The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) established the groups in 1997 to develop and periodically revise a comprehensive water plan for Texas through 2070. TWDB sponsors development of the Region K water plans. The Lower Colorado River Authority is the administrative agent for Region K.
State Water Plan
The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) adopted the 2022 State Water Plan on July 7, 2021, which outlines water needs for Texas over the next 50 years. In May, TWDB held a Public Hearing and provided notice for a Public Comment Period for the Draft 2022 State Water Plan with the intent to adopt the 2022 State Water Plan.
